Who am I?

We are here to add what we can to life, not to get what we can from life.

-Sir William Osler

The above quote by Sir William Osler, the father of functional medicine, is one that I try to emulate within the career I chose every single day. The role of the functional health practitioner is not to take, but rather to add. And if you’re wondering what a person who practices more naturally can add to your health journey, I’ll tell you! We add compassion. We add education. We add partnership. We place the keys to your health back into your hands and empower you to open the door to wellness, vitality and longevity.

Dr. Osler said many things throughout his career that I feel resonate with me and that help guide my philosophy of practice.

“If it were not for the variability among individuals, medicine might as well be a science, not an art.”

“One of the first duties of the physician is to educate the masses not to take medicine.”

“It is much more important to know what sort of a patient has a disease than what sort of a disease a patient has.”

More than anything, I believe that transparency and empathy are what enable us to connect with others and transform their lives for the better. Connecting with both my human patients and animal clients brings me immense joy, which is why I chose a profession focused on helping and healing.

As you may already know, my pets were the catalyst for transitioning to a holistic outlook, and I couldn’t be more grateful for the lessons they provided which allowed me to grow in ways I never thought possible. It was a breath of fresh air to realize that I could do more than just slap a bandage on the gaping wound of chronic disease and actually take a root cause approach to health in order to restore body-wide balanceLearn more about each of my inspiring fur kids (including their health journeys) by clicking on their pictures below.
